Description

"I have been struggling with depression for years, and when the doctor told me that my baby was born with a congenital heart defect, my world collapsed. I have endured immense pain, but my baby’s resilience has been my source of strength. Now, his life is in grave danger, and I humbly beg for your help to give him a chance to grow up healthy and safe."

Little Ch’ng Cheng Xuan, an 11-month-old baby from Alor Setar, Kedah, was once his parents’ greatest hope. His mother had a smooth pregnancy, and everything seemed normal until after birth when he was hospitalized twice due to severe jaundice. During these hospital visits, doctors discovered an abnormal heartbeat, and further examinations confirmed that he was suffering from a congenital heart defect.

This devastating diagnosis was a crushing blow to a family already struggling with poverty. His heart is unable to properly circulate oxygen to his lungs, leading to frequent episodes of severe oxygen deprivation. He even went into life-threatening shock due to oxygen deficiency and had to be resuscitated in an emergency. Seeing the severity of his condition, doctors urgently referred him to the National Heart Institute (IJN) and recommended immediate heart surgery to save his life.

Although the government has covered a large portion of the medical expenses, the family is still short of RM40,000 to cover the remaining surgery fees, pre- and post-operative care, transportation to and from the hospital, and basic living expenses during the treatment period.

For this impoverished family, this amount is an impossible burden. They have no choice but to turn to the kindness of society for help. Please, help give this little one a fighting chance at life!

Little Ch’ng Cheng Xuan was born healthy, but just four days later, he was hospitalized due to severe jaundice. During a routine check-up, doctors detected an abnormal heartbeat and later diagnosed him with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF)—a severe congenital heart defect. What’s even more heartbreaking is that his tiny heart has a 7mm hole, and his blood vessels are unable to properly deliver oxygen to his lungs, causing dangerously low oxygen levels.

Cheng Xuan has already gone into shock due to extreme oxygen deprivation and was only saved through emergency resuscitation. Despite surviving that critical moment, his condition remains extremely fragile. If his oxygen levels drop below 75, he must be rushed to the hospital for oxygen support, and in severe cases, he may require CPR to save his life.

After being hospitalized for a month, he was eventually discharged and is now able to breathe on his own, but his condition requires constant monitoring. At just four months old, he experienced another life-threatening episode, and though he was resuscitated in time, doctors have warned that surgery is urgently needed—without it, his life remains in constant danger.

His father, Ch’ng Sut Eng (41), works as an event sound system operator with an unstable income of around RM1,000 per month. His mother, Pang Yean Ling (39), was previously a salesperson, but after losing their first baby three years ago, she developed severe depression and still requires regular medical treatment.

Despite cutting back on every possible expense, the family simply cannot afford the overwhelming medical costs. They are struggling to cover not only the remaining RM40,000 for surgery but also the transportation, accommodation, and basic living expenses needed for their trips to the National Heart Institute (IJN) in Kuala Lumpur.

After conducting a home visit and assessment, One Hope Charity has decided to initiate a fundraising campaign to raise RM40,000 to cover the remaining surgery costs, transportation, accommodation, meals, and follow-up medical expenses to help this family overcome their crisis. The parents have entrusted our foundation to handle all fundraising matters on their behalf.
