Urgent Fundraising – Henry Fu Zhi Xuan (Multiple Congenital Hemangiomas)

Description
"Ever since my son fell ill, I live in constant fear. As his father, I wish I could take his pain away... but I’ve done everything I can. He’s still so young, with a long life ahead. All I can do now is hope the public will help us."
Henry Fu Zhi Xuan, a 12-year-old boy from Tanjung Sepat, Selangor, first developed a hard lump under his left armpit at the age of three. Over time, more lumps appeared on his limbs, back, and face. For years, his family brought him from hospital to hospital, yet no one could pinpoint the cause—until two years ago, when he was finally diagnosed with a rare condition known as Multiple Congenital Hemangiomas.
This type of vascular tumor is fully formed at birth. Though benign, it is highly aggressive and can spread throughout the body. As there is no family history of such illness, doctors confirmed the condition was caused by a genetic mutation. If left untreated, the tumors may transform into cancerous cells and threaten his life.
Doctors initially considered surgery to remove the tumors, but the growths are dangerously close to his heart, and his low body weight made the procedure extremely risky. Surgery was ultimately ruled out. The only option now is a two-year course of oral anti-cancer medication, which must be taken continuously without interruption—any break in treatment would render it ineffective.
Unfortunately, the total cost for this two-year treatment is RM70,000 amount far beyond what his single father, who is the family’s sole breadwinner, can afford.
【To suppress the growth of abnormal cells and prevent the condition from worsening, doctors have recommended a two-year course of oral medication — a treatment that must not be interrupted】
Henry has multiple lumps of various sizes across his body, including under his armpit, on his left arm, and near his heart. Over the years, he was referred from district hospitals to regional, central, and even specialist hospitals for numerous tests. Traditional treatments were also tried, but none yielded answers. After five long years of uncertainty, he was finally diagnosed with the rare condition Multiple Congenital Hemangiomas.
The condition has affected more than just his health. The tumors on his face caused noticeable changes in his appearance, leading to ridicule from peers. This deeply hurt his self-esteem and at one point, he refused to attend school. Thankfully, with encouragement and support from his teachers, Henry has since returned to class and is now doing well in his studies.
The total cost of Henry’s treatment amounts to RM70,000, a sum far beyond what his middle-income family can afford.
His father, Fu Gwo Sheng (47), works as an assistant at a roast meat shop, earning about RM4,000 a month. His Vietnamese wife left the family years ago and has since lost contact. As a single parent, Fu has been raising two children on his own. The children now live with their grandparents in Tanjung Sepat while Fu works in Kuala Lumpur. Despite suffering a leg injury in a previous motorcycle accident, he still makes the four-hour round trip by motorcycle every week to visit his children.
After thorough assessment, One Hope Charity has approved to launch a fundraising campaign to help cover the cost of Henry’s treatment. One Hope Charity has allocated RM5,000 from "Emergency Medical & Contingency Reserve Fund" as an initial contribution.
