Urgent Fundraising – Leong Jun Hao (Acute Myeloid Leukemia)

Description
“When the doctor told me that my 10-year-old son’s bone marrow could save my life, I looked at him and felt an overwhelming ache in my chest. I couldn’t say a word—I could only hold him tightly.”
29-year-old Leong Jun Hao, from Ipoh, Perak, is a young single father. To give his son a better life, he travelled to the Philippines a year ago for work, hoping his hard work would secure a more stable future for both of them.
However, in August this year, he suddenly experienced frequent dizziness, breathlessness, fever and blurred vision. He was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). While in the Philippines, he had to undergo six bags of blood transfusion within a short period just to stabilise his condition. The treatment cost there was extremely high, and his company allowed him to return to Malaysia without pay for medical treatment.
Back home, he immediately began chemotherapy. Although two rounds of chemotherapy reduced the cancer cells, doctors told him that a bone marrow transplant is the only chance for survival.
【Father and Son Successfully Matched — A 10-Year-Old’s Words Moved Everyone to Tears】
After multiple compatibility tests, the donor who successfully matched him turned out to be his 10-year-old son, Leong Kun Xuan.
When the doctor explained the bone marrow collection procedure, little Kun Xuan did not hesitate and said:
“I’m not scared. I want to save Daddy.”
His words brought tears to everyone in the room.
Kun Xuan is a cheerful and active Year 4 student who loves badminton and volleyball. To save his father, he must undergo four days of stem cell–stimulating injections, followed by two sessions of peripheral blood stem cell collection under general anaesthesia.
【Insurance Covers Only the Father’s Transplant — Son’s Stem Cell Collection Must Be Self-Paid】
Jun Hao’s bone marrow transplant is expected to cost more than RM300,000. While his insurance can cover the transplant and part of the treatment, his son’s stem cell collection fees are not covered and must be fully paid out-of-pocket.
Over the past months, he has been unable to work due to his illness. With no income, his medical bills, accommodation, and living expenses have drained all his savings. After the transplant, he will require up to a year of isolation and recovery, making him unable to take on any additional financial burden.
Jun Hao has been divorced for years and previously worked as a translator for a logistics company in the Philippines. He is now staying with his cousin and relying on relatives and friends to get by.
After conducting a home visit and assessment, One Hope Charity has decided to assist in raising the required amount.
Let us help fulfil a 10-year-old boy’s wish to save his father—and give this young single dad a chance to regain his health and continue watching his son grow up.
