Description

“Seeing her tiny body covered in tubes, struggling just to breathe, breaks our hearts. All we want is for her to survive and grow up healthy, but the overwhelming medical costs are far beyond our means. We humbly plead for your kindness to give our baby a chance to live.”

From Selangor, Lubna Aleesya Binti Abdul Hanif is a premature baby girl who arrived into this world far too soon at just 26 weeks of pregnancy. Weighing only 850 grams at birth—lighter than a packet of sugar—she was immediately admitted into the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), surviving only with the help of oxygen support and medical machines. Today, she remains in critical condition, requiring repeated intubation due to serious lung infection.

【A Challenging Pregnancy, A Mother’s Determination to Protect Her Baby】

At five months of pregnancy, doctors discovered Lubna’s mother had a shortened cervix, putting her at high risk of miscarriage or premature delivery. She was hospitalized for treatment, fitted with a pessary ring, and placed on strict bed rest. Even at this stage, the family had already paid over RM3,000 in hospital bills.

At six months, her water suddenly broke at home, and she was rushed to the hospital. Despite the doctors’ best efforts to delay delivery, Lubna was born prematurely at just 26 weeks.

Initially, Lubna showed slight improvement and needed only minimal oxygen support. But two weeks ago, she suffered a severe lung infection and had to be intubated again, with her weight dropping to just 760 grams. Doctors immediately placed her on two antibiotics. She continues to rely on tube feeding and remains under intensive monitoring. With much effort, her weight has now increased to 2.25 kg, but she still requires ongoing hospital care.

The prolonged hospitalization has caused medical bills to skyrocket, leaving her parents financially drained.

Her father, Abdul Hanif Bin Abu Rahman (33), supports the family of four by running a small nasi kandar food stall, earning around RM4,500 a month. Her mother, Nor Azizah bt Abdul Rahman (35), previously worked as a receptionist but is now on unpaid leave due to the premature birth. The couple also has a 3-year-old daughter. With household expenses already stretched, they are unable to bear the crushing medical costs.

The parents have expressed that they are willing to take on the responsibility of daily expenses and milk powder in the future, but the current hospital bills are completely beyond their capacity. With no other option, they are reaching out to the public for help.

After reviewing the medical records and the family’s situation, One Hope Charity has launched a fundraising campaign to help Lubna cover the necessary treatment costs. To kickstart the effort, the foundation will allocate RM10,000 from the “Emergency Medical & Contingncy Reserved Fund.”
