Description

Urgent. Time is running out. A 15-year-old girl from Melaka is battling a rare and aggressive leukemia. She must travel to Singapore within this week to begin CAR-T treatment. RM2 million is urgently needed to save her life. Her single father is appealing to the public to help her seize her only chance to survive.

“Dad… please don’t give up on me… I still want to live…”

These were the words of a 15-year-old daughter fighting a devastating illness, clutching her father’s shirt in the hospital, her eyes filled with the will to live.

She is fighting a desperate battle against disease, time, and overwhelming medical costs. Every second matters. Every delay could cost her future. We humbly appeal for help so that Mirabelle can have the chance to grow up and continue chasing her dreams.

Mirabelle Kua Han Fay, a 15-year-old from Melaka, was once a cheerful and energetic teenager who loved sports. Earlier this year, she earned her place on her school volleyball team through her own ability. She had already received her team jersey and even bought her first personal volleyball, eagerly preparing for her very first team training.

But just as she was about to step onto the court, her life took a devastating turn. She was diagnosed with T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (T-ALL), a rare, fast-progressing, and highly aggressive form of leukemia.

With all treatment options in Malaysia exhausted, Mirabelle and her single father have no choice but to place their last hope in CAR-T cell therapy in Singapore.

Mirabelle has since completed the necessary medical assessments, and her treatment plan has been clearly confirmed. Doctors have advised that she better begin CAR-T treatment in Singapore within this week. This is her only chance to survive, and the earlier the treatment begins, the higher her chances of success. As such, RM2 million must be raised urgently to enable her to proceed with treatment.

According to medical assessments, if CAR-T treatment is successfully carried out, Mirabelle’s chance of recovery exceeds 80%. She truly has a strong chance of being saved.

【From Fever to Acute Leukemia in Days. Chemotherapy Failed to Meet Targets. CAR-T Is the Only Hope Left】

On 9 September this year, Mirabelle developed a fever. What initially seemed like a minor illness quickly worsened. When her blood test results were released, doctors were alarmed and her father was devastated.

Her white blood cell count surged beyond triple digits, far above the normal range of 2 to 5, and she was subsequently diagnosed with malignant blood cancer.

After completing four cycles of chemotherapy in Malaysia, her cancer indicators remained well above the safe threshold. Doctors delivered the harsh conclusion:

“There are no better treatment options left in Malaysia. She must undergo CAR-T therapy in Singapore. This is her only hope.”

CAR-T is currently the most advanced and effective precision treatment available. However, this life-saving option comes at a cost of RM2 million, which covers CAR-T cell therapy, related medical testing, medications, hospitalisation, and any subsequent stem cell or bone marrow transplant required.

【Critical. A Race Against Time and the Final Challenge】

To improve the success rate of CAR-T therapy, Mirabelle is currently undergoing intravenous chemotherapy locally, with this phase covered by local insurance.

Each infusion brings severe side effects. Watching his daughter suffer in the hospital bed leaves her father heartbroken, yet he knows that only by enduring this stage can she qualify for the life-saving CAR-T treatment.

Mirabelle’s father, Kua Soon Leng, works as a car window tinting salesperson, earning approximately RM3,000 per month. He also supports his elderly father. He and Mirabelle’s mother divorced when she was young.

However, in the face of this sudden and critical illness, Mirabelle’s mother immediately returned to help care for her, sharing the burden and doing everything possible to help their only child survive.

This is a true race against time. Although Mirabelle’s condition is currently stable, her cancer cells could rebound at any moment. She must seize this narrow window and travel to Singapore to begin CAR-T treatment without delay.

Following a hospital assessment, ONE HOPE CHARITY has decided to assist Mirabelle Kua Han Fay in raising the required medical funds. The family has agreed for ONE HOPE CHARITY to fully manage the fundraising and collection of donations. ONE HOPE CHARITY will also allocate RM100,000 from its Emergency Medical and Contingency Reserve Fund to support this case.

【What is CAR-T Therapy?】

CAR-T cell therapy is an innovative, personalized immunotherapy and is regarded as one of the breakthroughs in cancer treatment.

This therapy involves extracting the patient's own T cells and genetically modifying them in a laboratory to equip them with chimeric antigen receptors (CAR). These receptors enable the T cells to precisely recognize and attack cancer cells. The enhanced CAR-T cells are then infused back into the patient's body, where they actively seek out and destroy cancer cells, improving treatment outcomes.
