Urgent Fundraising – Mohamad Zakri (Stroke)

Description
A 59-year-old man was admitted to the hospital after experiencing dizziness and fatigue, where he was diagnosed with a mild stroke. Despite receiving treatment, his condition suddenly worsened the next day, leading to a second stroke. Doctors informed the family that an urgent surgery to remove the blood clot was necessary, with the cost amounting to RM60,000. The family is now desperately seeking to raise the required funds.
The man, a widower, had been working tirelessly as a laborer to avoid burdening his children. On the day of the incident, he felt dizzy while working but refused to seek medical attention. His symptoms persisted after returning home, and only after repeated persuasion from his daughter did he agree to visit the hospital. Initial tests revealed a mild stroke, and he was treated with thrombolytic therapy. However, his condition deteriorated the following day—he lost the ability to speak and became disoriented. Upon further examination, doctors discovered that the blood clot had grown larger, necessitating immediate mechanical thrombectomy surgery.
Mohamad Zakri bin Hashim, from Permatang Pauh, Seberang Perai, urgently needs RM60,000 for the surgery. His family is overwhelmed, unable to afford the high medical expenses, and they are now seeking assistance to raise the necessary funds.

Mohamad Zakri, a former lorry driver, had to quit his job due to deteriorating vision and switched to working as a part-time laborer. While working, he felt dizzy but insisted on continuing despite feeling unwell, eventually collapsing but still refusing medical treatment. His colleagues had no choice but to call his family to take him home.
After being brought home by his daughter and son-in-law, they persuaded him to go to the hospital. By then, Mohamad Zakri was already showing signs of breathlessness, weakness in his limbs, and difficulty speaking. Concerned, the family rushed him to the hospital that evening. Initial tests confirmed a mild stroke, and the doctor administered thrombolytic therapy while recommending hospital observation.
Unfortunately, the next day, his condition worsened—he became disoriented and unresponsive. A second scan revealed that he had suffered another stroke, this time with a larger clot. The doctor immediately recommended mechanical thrombectomy surgery. However, the surgery costs RM60,000, which the family cannot afford, leading them to seek assistance from One Hope Charity.
Mohamad Zakri now works as a part-time laborer earning RM70 per day and occasionally fills in as a security guard. His wife passed away four years ago from breast cancer. They have two daughters, aged 33 and 27, both of whom are housewives. His eldest daughter’s husband, a 35-year-old auxiliary policeman, lives with them and supports the family, including Zakri and three children, on a modest income. With these financial strains, they are unable to cover the surgery costs.
After an emergency review, One Hope Charity has decided to help raise the RM60,000 needed for the surgery and will take full responsibility for the fundraising. For any inquiries, please contact our hotline: 04-539 9212, 016-419 2192, 019-232 2192, or 018-911 4192.
