Urgent Fundraising – Muhd Yusuf Ammar (Heart Disease)

Description
A 5-year-old boy, diagnosed with a complex single-ventricle heart condition, has also suffered strokes triggered by epilepsy. Despite these severe challenges, the boy’s strong will to live has carried him this far. Following a recent check-up, doctors recommended a second heart repair surgery, and his impoverished parents are desperately hoping to raise RM 95,000 for the surgery.
"Since birth, our son has faced constant health problems and spent a total of seven months in the hospital. Due to prolonged dependence on a BiPAP ventilator, he still has deep marks on his forehead. This painful journey has been heartbreaking for us. Now, he urgently needs a heart repair surgery to survive. We are pleading with the public to help us raise the funds for his surgery."
Muhammad Yusuf Ammar bin Roslan, a 5-year-old boy from Kuala Ketil, Kedah, was rushed to the ICU shortly after birth due to oxygen deprivation. Doctors diagnosed him with congenital heart disease, discovering holes in his heart and misaligned blood vessels. On the 42nd day after his birth, he underwent his first heart repair surgery. Unfortunately, not long after the surgery, he suffered a sudden seizure, and doctors discovered that he had also experienced a stroke. It took a year of hospitalization before he was allowed to go home.
Despite the many challenges, Yusuf has shown incredible resilience. During a recent follow-up, doctors found that he continues to experience cyanosis and low oxygen levels, with his blood oxygen level hovering at just 75% (SPO 75). The doctors have advised that the final heart repair surgery must be performed as soon as possible. Due to their financial difficulties, his parents are appealing to the public for help in raising RM 95,000 to give their child a fighting chance.

Muhammad Yusuf Ammar, who previously suffered two strokes that affected movement on his left side, has seen improvement after a year of physiotherapy and is now able to move freely. However, while running, his left foot remains slightly unbalanced.
During his mother’s pregnancy, all prenatal check-ups were normal. However, after full-term birth, he was rushed to the ICU due to oxygen deprivation. Doctors suspected a congenital heart defect and transferred him to the general hospital for detailed examinations, where he was diagnosed with Complex Univentricular Heart Disease. At 5 months old, he underwent Pulmonary Artery Banding (PA Banding) and the Glenn Shunt procedure.
Despite the successful surgery, Yusuf often experiences cyanosis, especially after physical activities, where he feels breathless and his hands and feet turn purple, forcing him to stop and rest. In addition, Yusuf suffers from epilepsy and requires long-term medication to manage the condition. Yet, seizures still occasionally occur at home. According to his father, if a seizure lasts more than 3 minutes without relief, they must administer emergency medication and rush him to the hospital. Last May, he was admitted to the ICU for five days following a severe epileptic episode and only recovered gradually.
In July this year, during a follow-up visit, doctors advised that Yusuf urgently needs to undergo the final heart repair surgery known as the Fontan Procedure. His parents hope that the surgery will allow him to recover and eventually enroll in kindergarten.
Yusuf’s father, Roslan bin Basron (52), works as a rubber tapper, earning a monthly salary of RM 900, while his mother, Nor Aimi bt Abdull Rahman (36), works as a factory operator, earning RM 1,620 a month. The couple has five children, ranging in age from 23 to 8 years old, with Yusuf being the youngest. Due to their financial struggles, they are unable to afford the high cost of surgery and are appealing to the public for help.
After a home visit and review, ONE HOPE CHARITY has decided to assist the boy in raising the RM 95,000 needed for the surgery and will take full responsibility for the fundraising efforts. All donations will be managed by the foundation, which will also allocate RM 5,000 from its “Emergency Medical Reserve Fund.” For any inquiries, please contact the foundation hotline at 04-539 9212, 016-419 2192, 019-232 2192, or 018-911 4192.
