Urgent Fundraising – Nur Khadijah Aryana (Heart Disease)

Description
“When we were told that our baby had a congenital heart defect, we couldn’t believe it—her prenatal check-ups were completely normal! Every time we visit her in the hospital, we can only watch her through the incubator, cheering her on and praying that she stays strong. Our whole family is waiting for her to come home… Please, help save our child.”
Nur Khadijah Aryana bt Mohammad Shahrin, a baby girl from Bukit Mertajam, Penang, was diagnosed with a severe congenital heart defect shortly after birth when doctors detected an abnormal heartbeat. She was found to be missing a critical blood vessel, causing her oxygenated and deoxygenated blood to mix. This condition leads to fluid buildup in her lungs, making her highly susceptible to infections. Every time she cries, she turns blue due to a lack of oxygen, putting her life at constant risk.
Since she cannot breathe on her own, the baby girl has spent the past two months in the intensive care unit (ICU), relying on oxygen support to survive. However, during this time, she has suffered from repeated bacterial infections, preventing her from being discharged. Only an urgent surgery can give her a chance to survive.
【Original Surgery Delayed Due to Repeated Infections—Baby Girl in Critical Condition】
The mother’s pregnancy was smooth and uneventful until the final stage when she experienced a sudden drop in amniotic fluid. She was rushed to the hospital for an emergency delivery. Despite multiple attempts to induce labor, the baby's heart rate began to drop, prompting doctors to perform an emergency C-section. On January 4, the baby girl was born, weighing 2.97kg.
Tragically, she was diagnosed at birth with multiple severe congenital heart defects, including Truncus Arteriosus (TA), Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) and Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD).
Not only does her heart have holes, but she is also missing a crucial blood vessel, causing oxygenated and deoxygenated blood to mix. This has led to fluid buildup in her lungs, making her highly prone to infections. Her condition has continued to deteriorate, and she is now entirely dependent on a ventilator to survive.
Doctors have emphasized that surgery is urgent and unavoidable. The procedure involves repairing the heart defects and implanting a Contegra Valved Conduit to improve blood circulation. However, the RM110,000 surgery cost is far beyond what her young parents can afford.
“Her breathing is rapid, and the moment she cries, her face turns purple from lack of oxygen. Doctors have to give her sedatives to reduce her movements and ease the strain on her heart. Seeing her tiny body covered in tubes, struggling to breathe, is unbearable for us as parents…”
Father Mohammad Shahrin bin Abd Aziz (30), Factory Production Assistant, earning RM1,800 per month. Mother Nor Fazliana bt Mohd Ramli (31), Customer Service Officer, earning RM1,700 per month. Nur Khadijah is their firstborn child.
