Description

“Two years ago, my wife passed away due to kidney failure. My daughter is our only child. Now her condition has worsened, and I’m truly terrified of losing this last ray of hope. I humbly plead with everyone to help save my child’s life!”

8-year-old Puteri Lina Anati Binti Shariff from Gerik, Perak, was born prematurely at just 8 months. Despite arriving early into this world, she was diagnosed with congenital heart disease immediately after birth. She spent one month in the hospital under close monitoring before being allowed to return home when her condition stabilized. In 2022, she underwent her first heart repair surgery, and her father stood by her side every step of the way.

However, Puteri Lina’s condition has recently taken a turn for the worse. She has been experiencing severe cyanosis (bluish discoloration of the skin) and oxygen deficiency. During a routine check-up, the doctor confirmed that she urgently needs surgery to repair a hole in her heart to prevent further deterioration.

Now, the single father is facing the overwhelming burden of RM 85,000 for the surgery. He expressed his grief:

“Losing my wife was already the greatest heartbreak for me. Now, my only child is suffering from a serious heart condition, and I can’t bear the thought of losing her too. She is my everything, my only reason for living.”

【The girl’s mother passed away two years ago due to kidney failure, and since then, she has been living with her aunt】

During pregnancy, the mother suffered from hypertension and diabetes, but fetal scans showed that the baby was developing normally. At 8 months pregnant, the mother experienced premature rupture of amniotic fluid, and doctors detected that the baby’s heartbeat was weakening. An emergency C-section was performed, and the baby girl was delivered. However, she was born with severe cyanosis (bluish discoloration) and oxygen deficiency, and was subsequently diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). After being hospitalized for a month under close observation, she was finally discharged to return home.

At the age of 2, doctors recommended surgery for her condition. However, the mother, unable to bear the thought of losing her daughter, declined the procedure due to the 50% success rate at the time. By the age of 6, she was scheduled to follow up at the National Heart Institute. Unfortunately, during a dental visit, she experienced severe breathing difficulties and cyanosis, prompting an emergency referral to the central hospital. There, doctors discovered severe cardiovascular obstruction and immediately performed an R-T shunt procedure, which temporarily alleviated her condition.

Recently, the girl has been experiencing persistent fever, shortness of breath, and worsening cyanosis, especially when climbing stairs. During routine check-ups, doctors confirmed that she urgently requires the next stage of surgery to repair the Tetralogy of Fallot. However, the surgery costs a staggering RM 85,000, which has placed an unimaginable burden on the already impoverished family.

Her father, Shariff Bin Abdul Rahman (53 years old), works as a laborer with irregular and meager income. The mother, who suffered from kidney complications due to diabetes, sadly passed away two years ago from kidney failure. Since then, the young girl has been under the care of her aunt. She is the couple’s only child.

After careful review, One Hope Charity has decided to assist the girl in raising the necessary medical funds. The family has fully entrusted the foundation to handle all fundraising efforts.

ONE HOPE CHARITY will allocate RM 10,000 from the "Emergency Medical and Contingency Reserve Fund" to support the cause. If you have any questions or wish to donate, please contact the following hotlines:04-539 9212, 016-419 2192, 019-232 2192, 018-911 4192.
