Description

A 37-year-old mother almost lost her life after a grueling 16-hour labor resulted in severe hemorrhaging. Her newborn baby suffered from oxygen deprivation and required emergency resuscitation. Both mother and child are now in critical condition, urgently needing RM130,000 in medical expenses.

The mother was at death’s door, and doctors had to transfuse 80 units of plasma to barely save her life. Meanwhile, the baby is still battling to survive.

Soon Bee Hong, a 37-year-old from Penang, experienced massive blood loss during labor as her uterus failed to contract. Doctors quickly transfused 80 units of plasma to save her life. However, her baby, Abigail Lee, was deprived of oxygen for 11 minutes and required immediate CPR upon birth. The newborn remains in critical condition, fighting for survival in the ICU.

The young parents are now desperately seeking funds to cover the overwhelming medical expenses and are pleading for public support to help them through this life-threatening ordeal.

【The mother faced a life-or-death trial, and after receiving an emergency transfusion of 80 units of plasma, her life was saved. However, the baby is still fighting for survival】

Soon Bee Hong, a 37-year-old expectant mother, had a normal pregnancy with her due date set for September 21. On September 14, she was admitted to the hospital after experiencing vaginal bleeding. The doctors monitored her condition from 7 a.m., but by 7 p.m., her cervix had only dilated 3 cm. The doctors decided to induce labor with medication, and it wasn’t until 1 a.m. that the baby was finally delivered.

Unfortunately, the newborn was in critical condition due to severe oxygen deprivation. The medical team immediately intubated the baby to supply oxygen, but her heartbeat was faint and nearly stopped. After performing CPR on the baby for 11 minutes, the doctors managed to restore her heartbeat and rushed her to the ICU for emergency treatment. A few hours later, the baby was transferred to a more well-equipped central hospital for further monitoring. As of now, her life remains in grave danger.

After 16 hours of labor, Bee Hong was finally able to see her newborn, but during the process of stitching her wounds, the doctors noticed excessive bleeding. Her uterus had failed to contract, causing a massive hemorrhage. With her husband’s consent, Bee Hong underwent emergency surgery. The doctors attempted to stop the bleeding in three surgeries, but in the end, they had to perform a hysterectomy to save her life. Fortunately, she made it through.

Bee Hong was diagnosed with HELLP syndrome (Hemolysis, Elevated Liver Enzymes, and Low Platelets), a rare but severe pregnancy-related condition.

The unforeseen complications of labor have caused medical expenses to skyrocket. The young father, Lee Yong Sheng, feels an overwhelming sense of guilt for being unable to afford the steep medical bills and for being powerless to protect his wife and child. This situation has left him both heartbroken and helpless.

At 19 years old, Lee Yong Sheng dropped out of school during his second year of junior high and has since worked in the food and beverage industry. Two months ago, he started his own business, selling Western-style breakfasts at a coffee shop, with a monthly income of around RM1,300. Bee Hong, 37, works as an online shop saleswoman, earning RM3,000 per month. The baby is their first child.

Currently, the couple can only afford RM5,000 of the medical expenses, leaving them unable to bear the overwhelming costs. Left with no choice, they turned to the One Hope Charity for assistance. After conducting a thorough review, One Hope Charity agreed to help the mother and baby raise the RM130,000 needed for medical treatment. The family has entrusted the entire fundraising process to the foundation, and all donations will be received by One Hope Charity. One Hope Charity will also allocate RM10,000 from its Emergency Medical Reserve Fund.
