100%

Lim Kai Xin who is currently 12 years old is a very happy girl. Just that behind her smile, there is a disability which is not able to be seen by others. Since birth, she suffered from heart perforation. While when she is an adolescent, she suffered from Tonsils. She has recovered from these 2 diseases but now, she faces learning difficulties due to her hearing problem.

Doctors has performed checkup and certified that she is suitable to go for artificial cochlea implantation. Unfortunately, the surgery fee is too expensive and her family is unable to bear. As a result, they hope that the generous public can lend a helping hand. As she faces hearing difficulties, the surgery will be done on her right ear first. The surgery fee sums up to RM90,000.

Kai Xin is from single-parent family. Since birth, she was diagnosed with perforated heart and underwent surgery when she was 11 months old in Gleneagle Hospital. The surgery which costed RM30,000 was paid by her family.

When she is an adolescent, she suffered from tonsil and has affected her hearing and causing her to face hearing difficulties. As Kai Xin loves to smile, whenever someone talks to her, she will just react with smile. As a result, her family did not notice that she is facing hearing difficulties.

Until kindergarten, her teacher realized that she is not sensitive to sound and suggested to her family to bring her for checkups.

As she suffered from tonsil, doctors suggested her to go for surgery to avoid her middle ear’s condition to be more serious. The surgery fee which costed RM10,000 is paid by her family. After the surgery, her snoring has improved but her hearing did not.

When she was 8 years old, her mother brought her to hospital for ear checkup. Doctors diagnosed her with hearing difficulties and requires hearing aid. After that, she is required to undergo speech therapy and the tuition fee cost RM600 per month. As her mother’s financial condition is unable to support her therapy, she quitted after 4 months of therapy.

Last year in December, Kai Xin complained to her mother that the sound heard by her has reduced and her family also realized that she is not responding to conversations.

Before new year this year, her mother brought her for hearing test and her hearing aids bring no help. Doctors suggested her to go for artificial cochlea implant. The right artificial cochlea implant surgery cost RM90,000 and the surgery will take place in PPUKM.

Kai Xin is a happy and optimistic girl and her learning is good. She loves to explore on her own but after explanation, she will just smile to react. It is obvious that she looks disappointed as she could not hear.

Kai Xin is from Subang Jaya, Selangor. Her parents had divorced. Her mother, Amy Cheah, 41, work as an admin in a property management company. She draws a monthly salary of RM3,000. Kai Xin has an elder brother who is 16 years old. Both of them are taken care by their mother and they are staying with their uncle.
