Neo Kai Cuan – Liver Transplant

21 years old should have a bright future awaiting but Neo suffers from liver hardening and only can lie on the bed while awaiting for help. He hopes that the generous public could lend a helping hand by helping him to go for liver transplant surgery.

Neo Kai Cuan, 21, who is from Port Dickson suffers from Biliary Atresia since he was young. 3 years ago, he was diagnosed with liver hardening and requires transplant surgery. Luckily, his sister’s liver is suitable to be transplanted and the surgery will be performed by a specialist who is from Ren Ji hospital, China in Malaysia. The transplant surgery requires RM140,000.

When he was diagnosed with Biliary Atresia when he was born and Kasai surgery was performed when he was 1 month old. Throughout his life, his liver function index is unhealthy. He once committed blood due to liver hardening. Doctors also realise that his throat’s blood vessel were ruptured and causing bleeding. Doctors has stitched the blood vessel.

Lately when he is admitted, his liver function index has reached 300+. Doctors had used medication to prevent his liver from further deterioration and at the same time scheduling for his liver transplant surgery

His sister’s liver is suitable to be transplanted

The only sister of Neo is 18 years old. When she noticed that her brother requires liver transplant, she went for test for compatibility. The result of the test shows that her liver is suitable for his brother.

Neo is cheerful person. He is interested in car designing but he stopped schooling when he was in Form 3 due to his health condition. He hopes that after he recovers, he can continue his study and getting a certificate.

His father, Neo Kee Hock, 65, is a construction worker who draws a monthly salary of RM1,600. His mother, Ong Ah Hooi, 56, is a housewife and sometimes she will work as a cleaner. The couple has 3 children. Their elder son is 28 years old and work as an aircond technician. He is married and requires to raise his own family. Neo Kai Cuan is the second child in his family and he has a younger sister who is 18 years old and currently still studying.

His surgery will be taken place in UM hospital and the cost is way cheaper than going for surgery overseas. This time, One Hope Charity will collaborate with UM hospital and Ren Ji hospital’s medical team to perform liver transplant surgery.

Due to his worsening condition, his surgery will be scheduled this month. Ren Ji’s hospital’s medical team will be flying to Malaysia for the surgery.
