Baby girl who suffers from serious heart malformation will be having her heart surgery on Monday (29th April) and she needs everyone’s help to stay alive.
Zara Imelda (Born 14th April 2019) is from Pulau Langkawi. When her mother was 7-months pregnant, doctors realized that Zara’s heart is abnormal. As a result, doctors referred her to Alor Setar government hospital or Seberang Jaya government hospital to give birth.
As the mother’s relatives stay in Butterworth, they decided to give birth in Seberang Jaya’s government hospital. The mother successfully gave birth to Zara.
At first, they thought that after a few days of monitoring, the whole family will be able to return to Pulau Langkawai. Sadly, doctors realize that Zara has breathing difficulties and after ultrasound, doctors diagnosed that she suffers from heart malformation.
Zara is diagnosed with Univentricular and heart perforation. (Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD), Atrial Septal Defect (ASD, Coarctation of Aorta (CoA) and Patent Ductus Arterious (PDA)). Oxygen is unable to be transported and as a result, she experiences shortness of breath frequently.
Since birth, she was kept under constant monitoring and doctors inject her with prostaglandin until surgery was performed. Zara’s condition may deteriorate anytime and doctors suggested her to go for surgery within these 3 days or her life will be endangered.
As Zara’s heart condition differs from other congenital heart disease, after surgery, she may require to undergo long term treatments.
Zara is the first-born of Muhammad Latiff Bin Bahari (32) who draws a monthly salary of RM700 as a part-time laborer in his village and Siti Syafikah Binti Hassan (18) who is a housewife. The couple stays together with their father-in-law.
The family agrees to allow One Hope Charity & Welfare Berhad to take charge of the fundraising of Zara’s surgery fee and at the same time accumulating the donations from the public.
This disease may endanger Zara’s life anytime. We truly hope that everyone can lend a helping hand and donate to help this baby girl.
