Rakeshwaran’s incident happened in July 2016. He was rushed to hospital and manage to be rescued but sadly, his arms were required to be amputated. His right arm were amputated from the wrist and his left arm were amputated from his shoulder.

His parents were divorced when he was young and he was raised by his grandmother. The accident happened when he was in Form 5. Initially, he planned to further his studies in business management after SPM to repay his grandmother for raising him.

He could not accept the fact that his arms were amputated when he was discharged as it has brought much inconvenience to his life. This has caused mental stress.

After counselling, and physiotherapy, he had accepted prostatic limbs.

There are various type of prostatic limbs. In order to improve his self-management, Myoelectric prosthesis arm was chosen for his right arm and normal prostatic arms were chosen for his left arm.
