Cute baby girl suffers from Biliary Atresia and caused her liver to fail. Doctor has confirmed that her mother’s liver is suitable to be donated. Hence, both of them are required to go to Renji Hospital in Shanghai for transplant surgery. Only liver transplant could save her life.

Samantha who is from Kuala Lumpur was diagnosed with Biliary Atresia when she is 1 month old. She underwent Kasai surgery when she was 61 days old but her disease recurred when she was 3 months old. Her liver has failed to function and only transplant surgery could save her life.

One Hope Charity had interviewed them and through the details given by PPUM and Renji Hospital, One Hope Charity had decided to accept this fundraising case.

Her mother who is 40 years old has been confirmed that her liver is suitable to be transplanted. Due to the baby girl’s complicated arteries in her liver, they are required to undergo their surgery in Renji Hospital.

Samantha experienced Jaundice when she was a month old and the reading has exceed the normal index. As a result, she was referred to hospital for further check-up. Her reports shows that she suffers from Biliary Atresia and her gall bladder failed to function normally,

When she was 61 days old, she underwent Kasai surgery in government hospital. Initially after the surgery, they thought that she does not require liver transplant as her condition improved. But after 3 months, she starts to experience flu, fever and yellowish skin. She also experienced abdominal swelling and her family rushed her to hospital for check-up. Her liver’s functions has failed and only transplant surgery could save her life.

Due to her continuous deterioration and worrying that Selayang Hospital do not have the suitable liver, she was transferred to PPUM.

In July, doctors has confirmed that her mother’s liver is suitable to be transplanted but due to the complicated arteries in Samantha’s liver, both mother and daughter are required to be transferred to Renji Hospital, Shanghai for the surgery. The surgery cost RM140,000.

Samantha’s abdominal swelling is worsening and only consuming 10 types of medicine can control her condition.

Her parents is from Sabah but they had lived in Kuala Lumpur for a period of time. Her father, James Joseph, 47 years old is a soldering technician who draws a monthly salary of RM2,000. Her mother, Stayce Louis is a housewife. The baby girl has 6 sibilings.
