URGENT

100%

Quintton Sim, a premature baby boy, was hospitalised and stayed in the incubator for four months as he was unable to breathe and swallow on his own. The parents need to prepare various home medical equipment before he can be discharged from the hospital. However, fund raised by One Hope Charity earlier was only enough to cover the medical expenses of the baby for four months. He still needs RM32,000 to purchase the medical equipment.

The baby’s medical information and write-up on the first fundraising are as follows:

Urgent Fundraising

Although the baby is still facing some conditions, but the doctor informed that if the family can prepare the necessary medical equipment, then the baby can be discharged to recuperate at home. It is because the medical expenses will continue to rise if he continues to stay in the hospital.

The baby not only needs a ventilator to assist in breathing, but also a suction pump, a 24-hour pulse oximeter, an oxygen tank, a nebulizer to soften the sputum and facilitate in sputum suction, and other medical equipment. The baby also needs extra care. The exhausted parents hope that the baby will be discharged and return home after they completed the purchasing of those expensive medical equipment.

In addition, the baby is at risk of lungs infection due to the insertion of the bronchial stoma, so he needs five doses of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). However, the vaccines are costly, so the parents are forced to seek help for the second time to pay for the medical expenses.

【The parents and grandparents take turns to take care of the baby, and they gradually see him getting better. The four adults in the family hope that the baby can grow up healthily】

When the mother was 31 weeks pregnant, she found that the fetal movements decreased, and the fetal development was delayed. An examination by the doctor revealed that the fetal heartbeat was low, so an emergency caesarean section was carried out to save the child. The baby weighed only 1.28kg at birth, and he is now hospitalised and weighed about 3.78kg.

Baby Quintton from Selangor is still unable to breathe and swallow on his own, so he needs to rely on breathing aids and catheters for feeding. Due to the long-term insertion of the catheter into his lungs, his throat inflamed, and he has a lot of phlegm. About a month ago, the doctor performed a tracheotomy on the baby to facilitate in sputum suction and breathing, however, special care and replacement are required.

The baby’s 34-year-old father Raymond Sim is a marketing and sales personnel, earning RM5,000 a month. The 21-year-old mother Yun Hua is a marketing executive with a salary of RM1,500. Baby Quintton is their only child. However, they are unable to afford his medical expenses, hence, they approached One Hope Charity for help.

After reviewing the case, One Hope Charity decided to assist in raising the shortfall of RM32,000. The family agreed to fully authorise One Hope Charity to take charge of the fundraising and collect the donations from the public on their behalf.
