Urgent Fundraising – Ayumi Yuri Zahra (Heart Disease)

“She is our only child. We are very worried and scared that something might happen to her. We hope she can undergo surgery soon and live a healthy life. We plead with everyone to help our child!”

Ayumi Yuri Zahra bt Mohd Salimin, from Simpang Ampat, SPS, was born with cyanosis and was immediately taken to the intensive care unit for oxygen support. Tests revealed that she suffered from severe tricuspid atresia, necessitating surgery to repair her heart defect.

However, as she grows, her blood vessels are no longer sufficient, causing her to frequently experience cyanosis and shortness of breath. Doctors have advised that she needs the Fontan procedure. Her helpless parents are seeking the remaining RM70,000 needed for the surgery.

【The child's heart defect primarily involves the underdevelopment of the tricuspid valve, which affects blood circulation and heart function, necessitating surgeries at various stages】

During pregnancy, the mother experienced gestational diabetes and high blood pressure issues. Due to the weakening of the baby's heartbeat, the doctor performed a cesarean section at full term. The baby girl, weighing 1.9 kg at birth, was cyanotic and immediately sent to the intensive care unit for oxygen support. She was later referred to the central hospital for further tests, which confirmed that she had tricuspid atresia (TA).

The main defect in her heart is that the tricuspid valve did not develop, preventing blood from flowing from the right atrium to the right ventricle, which is also underdeveloped. Blood flows from the atrial septal defect to the left atrium and mixes with blood returning from the lungs, affecting blood circulation and heart function. This condition requires staged surgeries.

The baby was allowed to go home on medication after she could breathe independently. However, at two months old, she suddenly had difficulty breathing and turned cyanotic, with her blood oxygen level dropping to SPO 20. She was rushed to the hospital for oxygen support, where the doctors performed an emergency Modified Blalock-Taussig Shunt (MBTS) and Glenn Shunt procedures, followed by atrial septostomy and pulmonary arterioplasty. The surgeries stabilized her condition, and she gradually grew stronger.

Now six years old, the girl has been frequently experiencing cyanosis, along with shortness of breath and difficulty breathing. She cannot engage in strenuous activities like running or jumping. Doctors have advised that she needs the final stage Fontan procedure.

Her father, Mohd Salimin bin Ahmad (48), works as a quality management assistant manager at a gravel factory with a salary of RM5500. Her mother, Roshahida bt Abu Seman (43), is a housewife. The girl is their only child.

The father also suffers from heart disease, with three blocked arteries, two of which have been cleared. He is currently waiting for surgery to address the remaining blockage.

The required surgery for the girl costs RM90,000. Her parents have exhausted their savings and can only afford RM20,000. They are seeking public assistance for the remaining RM70,000.

After a home visit and assessment, One Hope Charity has decided to help the patient raise the necessary medical funds. The family has agreed to entrust the fundraising activities entirely to ONE HOPE CHARITY, which will also manage the collected donations.
