Urgent Fundraising – Ismail Aisar (Heart Disease)

"The child shows no discomfort or symptoms. When the doctor informed us about the hole in our child's heart, we were shocked. Even more alarming was the urgency of the situation; the child needs surgery as the condition poses a threat to their young life. Please, we implore the public to help us!"

Ismail Aisar Bin Muhammad Saiful Izwan from Parit Buntar, Perak, was admitted to the hospital three days after birth due to jaundice. Doctors discovered a heart murmur and confirmed a congenital heart defect, but it was only under regular observation.

During the April check-up this year, doctors found that the child's heart valve was regurgitating. If left untreated, the situation may worsen, and the boy urgently requires surgery. Worried parents are seeking assistance for the insufficient RM68,000 surgery cost.

【The mother suffers from arrhythmia, while one of the fraternal twins has a hole in the heart. Both mother and son require surgery. However, the son's condition cannot wait for a scheduled operation and has been urgently referred to a specialized hospital for surgery】

Three years ago, during her pregnancy, the mother was diagnosed with an abnormal heartbeat. She was subsequently referred to the hospital for further investigation, where it was confirmed that she had premature ventricular contractions (PVC), a type of arrhythmia. This condition caused occasional palpitations in her chest, and she was prescribed medication to control it.

Regarding the fetus, the mother was carrying twins. All prenatal check-ups were normal, and after 38 weeks of pregnancy, doctors decided to perform a cesarean section. Both babies were born without complications, with the older sister weighing 3.2kg and the younger brother weighing 2.8kg. They were discharged from the hospital the day after birth.

On the third day after birth, both babies were taken to a clinic for jaundice, and due to weight loss in both infants, they were referred to the hospital for further observation. During their hospital stay, doctors detected a murmur in the younger brother's heart and referred him to a larger hospital for examination, where it was discovered that he had a ventricular septal defect (VSD), or a hole in the heart. Regular follow-up appointments were recommended.

For the past two years, the boy has shown no symptoms, such as difficulty breathing or cyanosis. He and his sister have been growing up normally without any noticeable abnormalities. However, there is an underlying concern about his heart condition.

During a check-up in April of this year, doctors found signs of aortic valve regurgitation in the boy's heart. To prevent complications and avoid worsening of the condition, surgery was recommended. However, the cost of the surgery, which amounts to RM70,000, has left the parents feeling helpless, as they can only afford RM2,000 of the total cost.

The father, Muhammad Saiful Izwan bin Yazid (35 years old), works as a mechanical draftsman with a monthly salary of RM5,100. The mother, Nurshafika Anis bt Mohd Shariff (33 years old), is a housewife. Apart from the 2-year-old twins, they also have a 5-year-old child.
