He is lively and active, and he always put a smile on the face. He is the first child of the parents after a geriatric pregnancy. Although he looks like other healthy babies, but in fact the baby boy has a hidden defect in his heart. He shows signs of cyanosis and hypoxia from time to time, and he is relying on medication to control his condition. And now, he has achieve the standard weight for surgery, so the parents beg the public to help them with the medical expenses to save his life.

Muhammad Rayyan Waiz Bin Zakiyuddin from Alor Setar in Kedah was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) at birth, and he had to wait until he is 8kg to 10kg to undergo the surgery. His parents has been taking great care of him until now so that he can undergo the much needed surgery, otherwise it may be life-threatening to him as he may die due to hypoxia.

【The doctor started to teach the parents how to perform emergency first aid at the beginning of this year, so that they can help the child before sending him to the hospital in case he suffers from breathing difficulties or hypoxia】

The mother, Nor Fazilah Bt Md Isa was a geriatric mother. She got married at the age of 35, and she thought that it would be difficult for her to conceive at an advanced age. She was overjoyed when she knew that she was pregnant. However, the mother suffered from gestational diabetes during pregnancy and the doctor also worried that the baby would be oversized, so the doctor decided to inject labour induction medication on her after 39 weeks of pregnancy, but it did not help, so the doctor finally decided to conduct a caesarean section and the baby was born weighing 2.68kg.

As the mother had gestational diabetes, the baby was directly sent to the intensive care unit for examination right after he was born. On the next day, the doctor informed that the baby had heart problems such as hole in the heart, cardiovascular stenosis, and other problems, which is called Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) in medical term. However, the baby needs to be 8kg to 10kg before he is allowed to undergo surgery. During this period, the parents will bring their son to Alor Setar Hospital and Penang Hospital for follow-up visits regularly.

Early this year, the child will become cyanotic due to crying. His lips and nails will turn purple so he needs to rely on medication to control his condition. However, it is very hard for a baby to swallow the medicine when he is throwing a tantrum, so he often became cyanosis and the doctor decided to teach the parents how to give first aid to the child in an emergency. Fortunately, there was no unwanted incident happened so far.

In a follow-up visit at the end of June, the doctor told the parents that the baby was suitable to undergo the surgery that cost RM75,000. However, the parents are worried as they are unable to afford the huge medical expenses, hence they approached One Hope Charity for help.

His 39-year-old father Zakiyuddin Bin Saad is a security guard, earning about RM2,000 a month. His 27-year-old mother Nor Fazilah Bt Md Isa was a cleaner before marriage.

After reviewing the case, One Hope Charity decided to assist in raising the RM75,000 in medical expenses. The family agreed to fully authorise One Hope Charity to take charge of the fundraising and collect the donations from the well-wishers on their behalf.
