It was supposed to be a happy occasion to welcome a newborn. However, the happiness was too short for Nur Anis Zahirah Bt Mohd Shahzan’s parents. Her mother managed only to breastfeed her once before she was sent to the ICU due to serious heart problem. She has been fighting for her life since then. Her parents plead for help to fund their daughter’s RM80,000 heart surgery.

Nur Anis Zahirah from Padang Serai, Kedah was born in April 9, 2021. Three hours after she was born, her oxygen level dropped sharply, her body turned purplish and she was sent to ICU.

Nur Anis Zahirah was found out to have heart problem and was referred to a specialist hospital for further assessment. She was diagnosed with a complex congenital heart disease called transposition of the great arteries (TGA), with an associated atrial septal defect (ASD) and patent ductus arteriosus (PDA). A surgery is needed as soon as possible because the disease would put her life in danger.

For the past two months, she has been fighting for life on a life support machine and medication. Her condition right now allows her to undergo the heart surgery but the family is still short of the RM80,000 surgical fee.

Her 40-year-old father Mohd Shahzan Bin Mat Saat is a supervisor in a company, earning about RM3,000 a month. Her mother Norsini Bt Tajudin, 34, is a housewife. They were married for 10 years but was not gifted a child until three years ago, when their eldest daughter was born.

They were equally excited to welcome their second child but unfortunately, their newborn is suffering from heart disease. Every time when Norsini sees her daughter on life support machine, she would burst in tears. She is also worried about the medical expenses that the family could not afford.

Family agrees to allow One Hope Charity to take charge of the fundraising and at the same time, accumulating the donations from the public. For enquiries, please contact our careline at 016-4192192 or 019-2322192.
