Urgent Fundraising – Yong Yu Soon (Heart Disease)

URGENT

100%

A young, innocent boy from Kota Tinggi, Johor, has been living happily in his everyday life, unbeknownst to him that he was born with a life-threatening disease. It is not until his recent clinical visit that one realised that his condition has worsened and in need of a heart repair surgery.

Although Yong Yu Soon was diagnosed with a congenital heart disease shortly after birth, the five-year-old has not shown any sudden symptoms and has not needed any medication. All he needed was to have regular clinical checkups.

However, things went downhill after a clinical visit last year’s year-end, as the doctor discovered that Yong’s heart condition has worsened. After he was transferred to Institut Jantung Negara for further examination, the doctor has advised that he needs to undergo surgery immediately.

When Yong was still within his mother’s womb, there were no irregularities detected and the delivery process went smoothly. Unexpectedly, the doctor has detected irregular activities in the heart a few days after the child’s birth.

After further examination at a hospital in Johor Bahru, Yong was diagnosed with a heart disease. But at that time it was not severe, so no medication was prescribed and need to attend regular clinical visits to follow up on his condition.

It was not until October last year after his visit to the hospital, the doctor found out that his heart condition had become severe and was transferred to Institut Jantung Negara for further examination.

According to the medical experts, Yong was diagnosed with a congenital heart disease called Muscular Outlet Ventricular Septal Defect, with right coronary cusp prolapse. The doctors have advised that the surgery must be done as soon as possible, otherwise it would severely affect his growth.

The father Yong Kim Hwa, 40, works as a mechanic with an income of RM2,600 whereas the mother Yong Miao Pei, 26, works as a housewife to take care of the family, including their six-year-old daughter and a five-year-old son. The family was unable to settle the RM40,000 worth of surgery fee for their child, so they approached One Hope Charity, in hopes that the public could donate and save the boy’s life.
