In order to support college and university students, ONE HOPE CHARITY & WELFARE launches its “ONE HOPE Food Box with Love” programme. The programme is open apply online to college and university students from underprivileged families.
ONE HOPE CHARITY & WELFARE chairman Chua Sui Hau says in a press statement that the caring programme aims to support tertiary students from poor and underprivileged families. It is now open to students from all ethnic groups studying in local tertiary institutions in Peninsular Malaysia, with a monthly household income of RM3,930 and below (B40 group).

“We hope that the assistance from ONE HOPE CHARITY can help in reducing the burden of living expenses of students from poor families, as well as to ensure that they can have sufficient food supplies,” he says, adding that more information can be obtained through the application website.
He says that since last week, ONE HOPE CHARITY has received several calls from college and university students, asking for dry food, face mask and other personal protection equipment supports through its hotline.
“The families of those students are facing huge financial burden. According to the students who called up for help, they have returned to their respective college and university for more than a month. Although most of the sectors are now allowed to resume, but their parents or guardians are still having unstable incomes, which resulted them to face financial difficulties.
“Therefore, after having a meeting to discuss about the matter, ONE HOPE CHARITY decided to offer 1,000 sets of Food Box with Love to students in need. They can apply through our website,” he says.
The 1,000 sets of “ONE HOPE Food Box with Love” are worth RM250,000. Each package that worth RM250 comprises the necessary dry food supply and daily necessities, two boxes of medical-grade face masks and three bottles of hand sanitizers.
“After the application of students studying out of Penang is approved, ONE HOPE CHARITY will send the ‘One Hope Food Box with Love’ to the respective beneficiary through courier service. The parcels can be sent to the on-campus or off-campus student hostels. Therefore, it is important for the applicants to fill in their detailed address and contact number to ensure smooth delivery processes,” he says.
In June this year, One Hope Charity took the lead in launching the “Food Box with Love” programme to ensure poor and underprivileged families did not have to suffer from hunger. Since then, ONE HOPE CHARITY has been sending boxes of essential items and food to the families in need through courier services.
One Hope Charity & Welfare is a registered non-profit organization and founded in 2002 and previously, it was known as Pertubuhan Penganut Dewi Xi Wang Dian, Bukit Mertajam, Penang and was the first operation office dedicated in charity works.
