With the family now facing financial issues, One Hope Charity has aided them by providing funds for special milk formula, diapers, physiotherapy and acupuncture.

What was used to be a simple, ordinary family has turned into a victim of a horrendous accident.

On Jan 8, a tom yum noodle seller Tan Kong Aik, 57, from Simpang Ampat caught in an accident. He was immediately sent to hospital and underwent surgery after finding out that the blood vessels to his brain were clogged. The surgery managed to save his life but he was fully paralysed. On Feb 5, the hospital advised him to rest and recover in his own home.

Tan made it home, but is still in a semi-coma state and even if he is wide awake, he could not move his paralysed body; Recently, he has gone through physiotherapy and acupuncture, and he finally started to feel his limbs as well as lifting his arms and legs. However, he needs to continue getting his therapy. He needs to complete his recovery by the end of May before the hospital can help replace his cranium.

His wife, Ooi Choon Hua, 46, worked as a nanny with a monthly income of RM700. She has always been there to take care of the family, but after the accident, she and her 23-year-old daughter have been taking care of the breadwinner of the family.

Ever since that accident occurred, the family had been spending on their own savings to survive. Currently, the breadwinner is their 21-year-old son working in a metal factory, with a monthly income of RM2,500. They also have a 16-year-old daughter.

Tan can only intake special milk formula and needs a lot of adult diapers. Furthermore, every week he needs multiple physiotherapy and acupuncture sessions, which costs nearly RM4,000. With the huge expenses, the stable family is on the verge of financial instability.

One Hope Charity has conducted the case review and agreed to supply two months worth of aid, which include one month worth of funds for the needed treatment fees. Further aide will depend on the situation after two months,

Furthermore, Sungai Bakap deputy state assemblyman witnessed our aid and also agreed to help through the welfare society.
