“Thank you everyone for getting little Rayden to leave the world of silence. We hoped that once he could hear and learn to speak, and finally get to call mommy and daddy.”

Two-year-old Rayden from Negeri Sembilan was infected from CMV and completely lost his hearing abilities. Fortunately, not only Rayden has a generous donor has sponsored one side of his electric cochlea (valued at RM75,000), but the remaining RM92,600 worth of medical fee was settled by donors all around.

With the expenses for the artificial cochlea and the surgery fee has been settled, the fundraiser has come to a close, and little Rayden will undergo the implant surgery on May 11. Let us all wish his surgery a success.

When Rayden was nine months old, his parents suspected that he had no reaction towards any sounds, but initial medical checkup found that he had no issue. But up until he was 18 months old, he still couldn’t call out “mom” or “dad”, and even when the parents were making loud noises right next to his ears, he made no response.

After a checkup by a specialist doctor, it was found that his cochlea is perfectly developed, but the reason he could not hear anything was that he was infected with CMV, which one of the long-term effects completely loses one’s hearing abilities. Hence, little Rayden had to have artificial cochlea implanted in order to regain his hearing abilities.

The sooner he gets the cochleas implanted, the more benefits in his speech development abilities. The family thank everyone that have donated to help little Rayden and hoped that the surgery can be a complete success.
