This is an extremely sad news. Six members from a family were tested positive for Covid-19 and three of them passed away one after another. One Hope Charity donated coffins to the deceased and assisted the family with the funerals to ease their financial burden.

47-year-old Raini, an employee of a transportation company from Penang contracted Covid-19 from her workplace in July and spread the virus to five of her family members namely her 66-year-old mother-in-law, 49-year-old husband, 35-year-old sister-in-law (her husband’s sister), her niece (her sister-in-law’s daughter) and her10-year-old son.

During the home quarantine, her husband (food deliveryman) and her sister-in-law (clerk) passed away in the morning and afternoon respectively on July 27; her mother-in-law also passed away on August 4.

Raini, who was the first to contract Covid-19 was receiving treatment at the hospital then. Her 26-year-old niece and 10-year-old son, who were quarantined at home did not know what to do when they faced the sudden death of three of their family members.

After receiving the request for help, One Hope Charity came forward to help the three deceased with the funerals, which included donation of coffins, cremations and conducted prayer sessions.

One Hope Charity has always been providing funeral and burial assistances to poor and underprivileged families. As long as a family fulfilled the qualifications, One Hope Charity would take charge of the funeral expenses, so that the family could give their loved one a dignified send-off.

One Hope Charity also has a programme called “Promise of the Last Journey”, where elders without relatives could register with the organisation for their funeral arrangements in the future. One Hope Charity would conduct the funeral based on the applicants’ last wish.

Thanks to our generous donors for your donations as it would help One Hope Charity to provide more funeral and burial assistances to poor families and lonely elders. Those who wish to donate could do so anytime as this is a long-term aid provided for the needy.

If there are any poor or needy who could not afford and manage the funeral for their loved ones, or there are any elderly living alone who are interested in registering for the “Promise of the Last Journey” programme, kindly contact One Hope Charity at 016-419 2192, 019-232 2192 or 04-539 9212 for help.
