After the surgery and admitted in hospital for further medical examination, the hawker Ooi Chun Ping unfortunately passed due to bacterial infection. It was a painful moment for the family to accept the death of their own child. One Hope Charity will be handling Chun Ping’s funeral and may he allow to rest in peace.

The 55-year-old, who has been selling Jawa Mee at a coffee shop in Ayer Itam with his mother, was hit with a stroke on Feb 28 and was admitted to the hospital. The doctor immediately performed surgery to remove a hardened lump in his cerebrovascular vessels. A second surgery was performed on March 2 for hydrocephalus.

Following the surgeries, his condition has its ups and downs. On March 20 he was transferred to a government hospital for medical examination. During that time, his condition became unstable and had taken cardiotonic injections.

On the noon of April 3, the family received a notice from the hospital stating that the patient’s condition became critical and needed the family to be there by the hospital. However, when the family arrived, Chun Pin had already passed. The sudden news has broken the hearts of his family, especially the elderly parents.

One Hope Charity, under the family’s request and approval, agreed to arrange Ooi Chun Ping’s wake. His body was placed on Leong San Tong Khoo Kongsi Funeral Parlor in Farlim, and arranged according to the Catholic tradition. On April 7, his body was sent to Batu Gantung Crematorium for the cremation process.

The family members handed over a part of the burial money to One Hope Charity, in an effort to thank the Association and hoped that the money can be used to help out others in need. Not only that the donation has helped Chun Ping to get his medical treatment, it has also helped him with the funeral parlor services. Ooi’s family are deeply appreciated for the kindness and support from the public.
