An 83-year-old woman who lived in a nursing home was quarantined as she was a close contact to a Covid-19 positive patient. Unfortunately, she died of a heart attack during the period, and the nursing home entrusted One Hope Charity to provide her with a coffin, as well as to undertake all her funeral matters.

83-year-old woman Yip Yuit Yin, lived in a government-owned nursing home since she became weak and unable to take care of herself nine years ago. As she passed away during the quarantine period and for safety reasons, the authorities handled her funeral like the other patients who died of Covid-19.

One Hope Charity made good use of the public donations for “Funeral and Burial Assistance” to deal with the last rites of the old woman such as provided her with a coffin, conducted prayers, funerals, and cremation. As she did not have any relatives or descendants, One Hope Charity will move and place her ashes to a columbarium in Bukit Mertajam.

One Hope Charity has always been providing funeral and burial assistances to poor and underprivileged families. As long as a family fulfilled the qualifications, One Hope Charity would take charge of the funeral expenses, so that the family could give their loved one a dignified send-off.

If there are any poor or needy who could not afford and manage the funeral for their loved ones, or there are any elderly living alone who are interested in registering for the “Promise of the Last Journey” programme, kindly contact ONE HOPE CHARITY at 016-419 2192, 019-232 2192 or 04-539 9212 for help.
