Besides launching fundraising campaigns for emergency cases, One Hope Charity has been continuously providing assistance for the needy in different ways, such as providing aid for their medical expenses, medical equipment, dried food supply, special needs formulas, diapers, among others.
Between February and April this year, One Hope Charity had distributed a total of RM85,375.75 which benefited 73 people. The amount did not include fundraisings for emergency cases.
These are some of the cases where public donations were used to buy dried food, special needs formulas, diapers, knee supplements and medications, dialysis fee, cancer treatment fee, minimally invasive surgery fee, acupuncture fee, among others during the three months.
51-year-old security guard, Kalaiselvi met with an accident and injured her right knee in 2007. She suffered from knee pain recently and doctor suggested her to have knee injection. One Hope Charity helped her with the RM1,900 medical expenses she needed so that she could recover fast and continue to work.
65-year-old Lim Hock Chai suffering from difficulties in moving after he met with an accident. He has been living in a nursing home after he was discharged from the hospital and his family has to bear for the cost of nursing care, which is RM1,200 a month. He needed to undergo a surgery to treat his bone fracture at the cost of RM8,300 recently. One Home Charity provided financial aid to fund this minimally invasive surgery.
43-year-old Indian man, Moorthy is a fisherman, earning about RM600 to RM700 a month. One day when he was at work, he slipped and fell into the sea, hit a rock and fractured his left jaw. The accident also caused inflammation to his bone marrow. Although he had gone through a minor operation earlier, but there is still a crack in his lower jaw. He needed another surgery cost RM5,270.
In general, for cases that need assistance of not more than RM20,000, One Hope Charity will not initiate fundraising but would make good use of public donations to help those who are in need.
