Every bag and every drop of blood are precious and it is an irreplaceable element of life. The amount of blood in our body determines the life and death of a person, especially in the brink of an emergency.

Throughout the year, One Hope Charity & Welfare has funded medical equipment. After receiving an application request from PPUM in view of the need for medical equipment, we hereby donated one unit of ROTEM SIGMA hemostasis analyser, valued at RM280,000, including a two-year worth of test kit.

Association chairman Chua Sui Hau said that the medical device has been sent to the hospital and was handed over to PPUM director Prof Nazirah Hasnan. Representatives from other departments in PPUM, including the anesthesiology, liver transplant and pediatric hepatology have also witnessed the handover.

The ROTEM SIGMA hemostasis analyser can help doctors quickly identify and detect any abnormal blood coagulations within the body with high precision, allowing doctors to obtain blood test results within 10 minutes. This device can minimise the risk of patients losing too much blood during surgery and could significantly increase the patient’s survival chance during operations.

This would not be possible without the kind and generous donations from the public. We want to thank you all for your support and contribution to help save the lives of many individuals in need.

At this point in time, this medical equipment is the most advanced hemostasis analyser available. The term ROTEM, which is abbreviated from rotational thromboelastometry, is an established viscoelastic method for hemostasis testing in whole blood.
