A 57-year-old man suffered from chest pain. He was admitted to the hospital, and examination revealed that his main cardiovascular was 80% blocked. His condition was severe and critical. One Hope Charity allocated RM15,000 from the Emergency Medical Reserve Fund to subsidise his medical expenses so that he could undergo the life-saving surgery within the golden window.

57-year-old Abdul Razak Bin Mohamed Sultan from George Town, Penang, received help from One Hope Charity and Yayasan Amal TYT Pulau Pinang for his surgical expenses. His surgery went smoothly, and he is fully recovered and discharged from the hospital.

Abdul Razak used to suffer from bladder and prostate problems. He also has diabetes and high blood pressure. He had exhausted his savings of RM40,000 to RM50,000 to treat his illnesses.

In mid-January this year, he suffered from shortness of breath and chest pain and went for treatment at the hospital. Examination revealed that one of his main cardiovascular was 80% blocked, so he needed surgery to clear the blockage. The surgery cost RM25,000, and he received RM10,000 from the Yayasan Amal TYT Pulau Pinang. He approached One Hope Charity for the remaining RM15,000.

Abdul Razak used to work as an assistant to a government official. After that, he also assisted in charity work at a mosque. His 57-year-old wife, Faridah Binti Zainol, retired in June last year as a civil servant. She needs to pay for their housing and car loans. Their only daughter is an administrative staff.

They could only afford the expenses for his medication, hospitalisation and follow-up visits. The family was very grateful to One Hope Charity for its help in supporting the remaining surgical costs, which allowed Abdul Razak to undergo a successful surgery.

ONE HOPE CHARITY determined the surgery fee needed for assistance. We did not start fundraising because the surgery fee was less than RM20,000. Instead, it made good use of the usual well-meaning donations to assist Yew Wing.
