After went through all the hardship, the resilient little boy finally completed his surgery and was discharged from the hospital!

The two-year-old boy went through many obstacles in life – he was diagnosed with severe heart disease when he was born. His scheduled heart surgery was delayed for two years due to hydrocephalus and hyperleukocytosis. With the blessings and prayers from all kind-hearted individuals, he finally completed his heart surgery. After the surgery, he was hospitalized for treatment and observation for two months due to some conditions. And now, the boy finally survived, and he is not growing healthily.

Malay boy Muhammad Hanif Bin Mahamad Sukri from Kedah, was diagnosed with severe heart disease at birth. At that time, his heart could no longer supply blood to the other parts of his body. The doctor also implanted a stent in his heart and he was hospitalised for at least three months in the intensive care unit. During this period, he had been relying on medications to stabilise his condition. Soon after, he was diagnosed with hydrocephalus and hyperleukocytosis. He has been in and out of the hospital for the past two years, and his heart surgery was delayed again and again.

Two years later, the doctor informed that his heart condition deteriorated during a follow-up visit, and a heart repair surgery was urgently needed. His condition then was very serious, and the surgery was very complicated, so the surgical cost was as high as RM120,000. The doctor also informed that there should not be further delay, as the surgery should be done when he was 10kg.

After One Hope Charity launched a fundraising for him a few months back, donations kept coming in. He underwent the heart surgery on 14 February and was put under observation in the intensive care unit for several days. He was transferred to the general ward on 24 February.

On 25 February, he was transferred to a government hospital to continue his monthly injections for hyperleukocytosis, and the doctors kept him in the hospital so that they can continue to monitor his hyperleukocytosis.

After two months of observation in the government hospital, he was finally discharged. His family is also very happy as he can finally grow up healthily like the other children.

Muhammad Hanif’s family is very grateful to all the well-wishers so that their son could undergo the surgery, get rid of his heart problem and grow up as a healthy boy.
