Ng Zi Heng, a two-year-old boy with a recurrence of leukaemia, has been admitted to the hospital for chemotherapy. He will later be treated with a drug called Blinatumomab to fight the cancer cells in his body.

It needs to take a while for the Blinatumomab purchase, therefore, little Zi Heng has been admitted to the hospital on January 19 for chemotherapy to prevent the cancer cells from spreading. The RM130,000 medical expenses he needs have been successfully raised, so the fundraising will be stopped with immediate effect.

Little Zi Heng is very resilient. He was diagnosed with leukaemia when he was two months old, and the doctor once pronounced that he was incurable, but the parents never gave up and took him to Taiwan for medical treatment. After about one and a half years of treatment and observation, Zi Heng returned to Malaysia in March 2021.

It was until October last year when Zi Heng went for his regular follow-up visit at a government hospital, the doctor noticed that his leukaemia had recurred and he must be treated once again. Since December, Zi Heng’s body started to reject and his first chemotherapy was failed. Hence, the doctor recommended that little Zi Heng should go for another treatment plan, namely the Blinatumomab drug to fight against the cancer cells in Zi Heng’s body.

The course of injectable drug can selectively attack the cancer cells in the CD-19 cells. The number of cancer cells in Zi Heng’s CD-19 cells is as high as 98%. Therefore, he is suitable for this course of treatment. However, the drug is expensive, and the parents have no other choice but to approached One Hope Charity again for help.

A fundraising was launched to raise funds for Zi Heng a few days ago. Many well-wishers extended a helping hand and donated to help him. We pray that little Zi Heng can fight the cancer and grow up healthily.
