Penang Chief Minister YAB Chow Kon Yeow gone through the process like other vaccine recipients. Also present were the Mayor of Majlis Bandaraya Seberang Perai Dato’ Sr Haji Rozali, Batu Kawan MP Yang Berhormat Kasthuriraani Patto, Bukit Tengah assemblyman Yang Berhormat Gooi Hsiao Leung.

After the visit, Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said that 51% of those registered for vaccination in Penang have received their first dose of vaccination, and the government expects that all that have registered would receive their first dose in early September. The state government also estimates that about 10% of registered persons would be vaccinated every week, or 138,000 doses to be injected. There are about five weeks to September, and based on this calculation, 100% of those registered would be able to receive their first dose in early September, but this depends on the supply of the vaccines as well.

One Hope Charity & Welfare chairman Chua Sui Hau urged the public to be cooperative and not to gather in front of the vaccination centre. He also reminded those who received their appointments to be at the vaccination centre on time.

“If the daily vaccination process goes smoothly, we could reach the target of vaccinating 1,000 people in a day very soon.

“At present, the turnout rate is about 95%, and we are also in the process of applying to the authorities to add another 180 doses per week, so that we could vaccinate 1,000 people a day as soon as possible,” he said.
