Chua Shin Yee successfully received her artificial cochlear implanted inside, all that’s left was to turn it on. The parents brought her to our service centre and the shy little girl uses sign language to show her appreciation.

On May 18, Shin Yee went to the hospital to have her artificial cochlear implant. The surgery was a success and she was being examined for two days before being discharged. She was expected to enable her artificial cochlear a month after her surgery to adapt to the surrounding sounds.

Shin Yee still has to go through speech therapy sessions every month, in hopes that she could start learning to use her voice to speak. To a deaf person, getting an artificial cochlear implant at the age of 12 may be a bit late, but the parents hoped that she would be able to protect herself by indicating dangers through sounds.

The father, Chua See Han, 40, would like to thank the public for helping his daughter to get her surgery done. He promised that he will take his daughter from Alor Setar to Penang island to continue on with his daughter’s therapy sessions.

Thank you all for helping this little girl hear.
