The infant is now one month old. His health condition has improved, and he is allowed to discharge from the hospital!

Baby boy Velon Yau from Johor was diagnosed with congenital heart defect. He was once in critical condition and had undergone a heart surgery. And now, he is one month old, and the doctor has allowed him to be discharged from the hospital.

Baby Velon had an operation on May 18 and was admitted to the intensive care unit for observation before being transferred to the normal ward. After a month-long observation and treatments, he has gained back his health and was discharged on May 29.

His 44-year-old father Yau Ten Yen said, the nerve of their newborn’s vocal cord was affected during the surgery. Although he could make some noise, but he could not cry like a baby. He needs more time to recover.

In addition, the interface of the heart surgery is quite narrow and needs regular follow-up and observation. If the condition does not improve, he might need to go through another surgery. Therefore, the baby still has to undergo follow-up treatment every month.

Meanwhile, his father is still taking unpaid leave to take care of the family and could not return to Singapore for work. He hopes that his family could get better soon and his baby could grow up healthily and safely.
