A true cancer fighter has returned to Malaysia! Thanks to all donors who had contributed and gave him a chance to grow up healthily.

Do you still remember this? One Hope Charity had launched a fundraising campaign in 2019 to collect RM650,000 fund for a then 2-month-old baby suffering from leukaemia so that he could receive treatments in Taiwan?

After receiving treatments for one year and five months, baby Zi Heng successfully recovered from cancer and returned to Malaysia on March 10. He is now almost 2 years old now and he’s a healthy boy. Besides having strong vitality, this could only happen with the supports from all the well-wishers.

Born on June 24, 2019, Ng Zi Heng was diagnosed with leukaemia when he was only two months old. When One Hope Charity held a fundraising for him, many well-wishers came forward and donated generously. The fund was successfully raised in just two days. His family flew to Taiwan on November 17, 2019, when Zi Heng was just five months old, where they started their long journey to fight against cancer. Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation was the only treatment option for Zi Heng.

Little Zi Heng experienced many life-threatening challenges during his treatment in Taiwan. After his stem cell transplantation, he developed a rare but fatal complication – the hepatic vein obstruction, where his suffered from severe abdominal distension, ascites, jaundice and other symptoms. His situation was critical when he was in the paediatric intensive care unit but fortunately, he survived after countless of rescues by the medical team.

He was once suffering from hair loss caused by the chemotherapy and abdominal distension due to the disease, but little Zi Heng, who is a true fighter has overcome it. He is now healthy, active and always showing a smile on his face.

After experiencing one year and five months of treatments in Taiwan, doctors confirmed that he has recovered. Zi Heng and his family returned to Malaysia on March 10 this year. After completed their quarantine, Zi Heng’s parents brought him to our office in Kuala Lumpur on April 29 to express their gratitude.

Zi Heng’s father, Ng Yen Lim repeatedly thanked One Hope Charity, all well-wishers and donors for their help. Because of you, his family would not be able to leave for Taiwan for Zi Heng’s treatments without worries. Zi Heng has survived from cancer and regained a new life.
