It’s the power of unity! The RM9mil needed for a rare genetic disease drug has been successfully raised in seven days and 22 hours! Thank you all for the best Christmas gifts to Baby Reese.

One Hope Charity launched fundraising of RM9mil for the medical expenses of 17-month-old girl Reese Tan RuiXin, who suffers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) – a rare genetic disorder. With donations from kind-hearted individuals locally and abroad, we have successfully raised the RM9mil medical expenses needed in seven days and 22 hours.

This case is like paying an exorbitant price to save a priceless life. Nearly 26,419 kind-hearted individuals, enterprises, business owners and community organisations from all over the world, including various states in Malaysia and overseas, donated to this cause. Everyone has come together to give little Reese hope to live, demonstrating love and care exist in the world.

One Hope Charity and Welfare’s chairman, Dato’ Chua Sui Hau, said that the organisation launched fundraising on 13 December (Tuesday) to raise RM9mil for Reese Tan RuiXin, a little girl from Shah Alam, Selangor. The amount needed was exorbitant, but when One Hope Charity’s official platform, social media and mainstream newspapers published the news, many responded to the cause. The donations were overwhelming, and we raised the medical expenses needed in seven days and 22 hours.

RM9mil is the highest amount raised since One Hope Charity started 20 years ago. Thanks to the public's assistance, the fundraising was a success. What's more important is that the beneficiary, the medicine, can change the future of little Reese.

With the success of raising the RM9mil, the procurement of the medicine is now in progress. It is a race against time, and the child's treatment is now the priority.

The greatest wish of her father, Jason Tan and mother, Rachel Chung, is to see their child able to care for herself. This treatment plan is not only for fundraising, but they hope to raise more social awareness of the SMA gene disorder.

The parents admitted that they owed too much to the general public and will never forget their kindness. Therefore, the mother not only vowed to become a vegetarian and pray for the good health of her daughter but also promised to continue helping more sick people in need in the future.

Thank you for the generosity of the public, which allows lovely little Reese to have the opportunity to change her future.

One Hope Charity will follow up on little Reese’s progress closely in the future. The public can check on One Hope Charity’s official webpage, www.onehopecharity.org or official Facebook One Hope Charity & Welfare - 大山脚瑶池金母慈善基金会 to get the latest updates of little Reese.
