“I don’t know how long I can take care of her (my wife), and I am unsure who will leave first. I can only do my best and leave the rest to God.”

A 55-year-old woman Yap Kim Lee fell, and she was diagnosed with a brain tumour following an examination. However, the doctor ruled out the possibility of cancer, but her body became weaker day after day. Her legs became weak, and eventually, she was paralysed. The doctor suspected that she had a minor stroke. After experiencing two years of blood examinations, bone marrow and other health tests, the diagnosis showed that she had Tumefactive Multiple Sclerosis and hydrocephalus.

The husband and wife love each other very much. As the wife was paralysed and bedridden, the husband had to work alone to support the family. However, he was reluctant to send his wife to the nursing home. The 56-year-old husband, Lee Chun Seng, insisted on caring for the sick wife for three years. He would make the necessary arrangements before she went out to work, and he would monitor the wife’s condition through CCTV. If something emergency happened, he would seek help from friends and relatives living nearby.

Unfortunately, the husband’s kidney started to fail at the end of last year. He needed dialysis three times a week, so he was temporarily unable to work. He is now actively applying for assistance from Socso.

As Yap Kim Lee's medical expenses for three years have been fully raised, the financial burden for the family can be temporarily relieved. Yap will be receiving treatment at Seberang Jaya Hospital. The family is grateful for the help from the public, and we wish all the well-wishers safe and healthy.
