With enthusiastic donations from the public, ZiQing's bone marrow transplant surgery fee of RM350,000 was successfully raised! Parents are appreciative of everyone's kindness and blessings, which made it possible for them to satisfy their immediate needs and receive the best gifts this Chinese New Year.

Mother Yong Siew Yee revealed that ZiQing will go to the hospital for an examination in February, and after the report is released, the doctor will finalize the transplant date. The doctor had previously predicted that the bone marrow transplant would take place in April of this year, but due to ZiQing's prolonged blood transfusion, her body's ferritin level was quite high, which may have an impact on the surgery's timing.

ZiQing, who looks like an ordinary girl, is actually a patient with Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency (PKD). Pyruvate kinase deficiency is a rare, autosomal recessive, inherited disorder of red blood cell enzymes that causes chronic hemolysis.

She underwent a full body transfusion when she was 3 weeks old and has since required blood transfusions every 4 weeks. Blood transfusion causes the ferritin index in the body to be too high, which may damage the internal organs. Currently, her liver swells 2 to 3cm per month.

Fortunately, tests revealed that the mother's bone marrow could be used to transplant her daughter, but the family was unable to pay up to RM350,000 transplant cost.

After raising all the necessary funds, ZiQing and her mother will get ready for the transplant procedure. They want to express their gratitude to the public for their support and blessings and give the mother and daughter a special New Year's gift.
