Nor Ammara Zulaikha bt Zakaria, an 18-month-old girl from Sungai Petani, Kedah, is the younger twin sister of a boy. While her brother developed normally, her circumstances were vastly different. While her brother was born without complications, the girl's oxygen levels were insufficient upon birth, leading to her immediate transfer to the intensive care unit for oxygen support.

After thorough examinations, it was discovered that the girl suffered from tracheomalacia, requiring oxygen assistance in the hospital for five months. She was eventually discharged after being lent a CPAP ventilator by the hospital and using it at home for three months to facilitate independent breathing.

However, the infant was also found to have a congenital heart defect. Previous medication treatments proved ineffective, prompting doctors to recommend urgent heart repair surgery. However, the required surgery cost of RM85,000 has left the parents feeling helpless and desperate.

When the mother was pregnant, she suffered from gestational diabetes and a decrease in hemoglobin levels. Learning that she was expecting twins brought both joy and worry for the parents, who eagerly anticipated the arrival of their children. As the due date approached, doctors decided to perform a cesarean section due to the abnormal position of the twin brother.

The brother was born without any issues, but upon the birth of the sister, doctors found that her oxygen levels were low and immediately transferred her to the intensive care unit for oxygen support. After various examinations, it was confirmed that the twin sister suffered from tracheomalacia, requiring assistance from a ventilator for eight months before finally being liberated from its entanglement. Additionally, she suffered from gastroesophageal reflux disease and hypothyroidism, both of which have since been cured.

However, the most challenging aspect is that the baby girl was born with a congenital heart defect, specifically an atrioventricular septal defect (AVSD) and patent ductus arteriosus (PDA). Previous medication had little effect, and doctors advised that surgery to repair the heart defect is urgently needed. However, the required surgery costs a daunting RM85,000, leaving the parents feeling helpless.

The girl is now very active at home, with no signs of asthma or oxygen deficiency, but she has a weak immune system and frequently falls ill with colds and fevers. Due to developmental delays, she can only roll over and stand with support, unable to sit, crawl, or walk.

The father, Zakaria bin Abdullah Sani (37 years old), works as a factory operator with a salary of RM1500, while the mother, Norhayati bt Nordin (37 years old), is a homemaker. The couple has three children: a 9-year-old eldest son and the 1-year and 7-month-old twin siblings.

After a home visit assessment, One Hope Charity has decided to raise the necessary funds for Nor Ammara Zulaikha. The parents have agreed to entrust all fundraising activities to the One Hope Charity Foundation, which will also collect donations.
