“Since I can’t run away from the fact that I am having cancer, I have to seek active treatment so that it will not affect my sister. I beg everyone to help me fight against the disease so that I can continue to work and care for myself and return to a normal life in the future.”

54-year-old Khor Foo Jin from Bukit Mertajam began to experience abdominal pain, diarrhoea and bloody stools about two months ago. She resigned due to her unstable condition, which had affected her work. Later, Foo Jin went for a check, and the doctor diagnosed her with colon cancer. She is now actively seeking medical treatment and pleads for RM50,000 in medical expenses.

【The woman suffered from unbearable abdominal pain. She sought medical treatment many times but only took painkillers after that. She went to a specialist hospital for examination at her own expense. The doctor discovered a tumour in her large intestine and diagnosed her with colon cancer】

The patient began to suffer from abdominal pain, diarrhoea, and bleeding in the stool in September of this year. Sometimes, the pain was so severe that she broke into a cold sweat. The hospital needed three months to release the preliminary test report. As the pain was unbearable, she went to a specialist centre for another examination at her expense. The doctor diagnosed her with colon cancer, which had also spread to her lungs and liver.

When the patient went to the general hospital for treatment, the registration office staff asked her to go to a clinic and follow the step-by-step procedures by getting a referral to the general hospital. As the patient worried it would take long and delay her treatment, which might affect her condition, she approached One Hope Charity for assistance.

The patient later sought treatment from a university hospital. The doctor recommended chemotherapy to shrink the tumour and then prevent the cancer cells from spreading through oral medication after six courses of chemotherapy.

Foo Jin worked as a factory worker, tailor and hawker when she was young. She is divorced, and her only daughter stays with her father, with whom she has almost lost contact. Foo Jin worked as an assistant at a hawker stall with a monthly income of about RM2,000 before she fell ill. However, she quit after being diagnosed with cancer. Her elder sister is now taking care of her.

She agreed to fully authorise One Hope Charity to take charge of the fundraising and collect donations from the well-wishers on her behalf. One Hope Charity had channelled RM16,000 from the Emergency Medical Reserve Fund for this case.
