Urgent Fundraising – Muhd Adam (Heart Disease)

URGENT

100%

Nine-year-old Muhammad Adam bin Mohd Khairul Azmir from Perak, is diagnosed with Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) accompanied by Aortic Valve Regurgitation (AR) since childhood. Due to his congenital heart condition, he is unable to join his friends in outdoor activities and often watches them play happily while feeling upset and crying alone. He requires surgery to alleviate his breathing difficulties and lack of oxygen. Without surgery, his chances of survival are slim.

Adam's parents are deeply concerned as time is of the essence in his case. They are urgently seeking to raise RM 65,000 for the surgery, which is a race against time to prevent heart failure.

【The child, with a heart defect compounded by asthma, requires hospital visits for oxygen therapy every week. Due to the parents' work commitments, they have installed a nebulizer at home for emergencies】

Mohammad Adam's mother had a normal pregnancy check-up, and there were no abnormalities during his birth. However, when he was 21 days old, he developed a cough, prompting a visit to the clinic. Medical staff noticed his labored breathing and a bulging diaphragm, leading to referral to the hospital for further evaluation. It was confirmed that he had a hole in his heart, with blood oxygen levels as low as 80%, necessitating immediate admission to the intensive care unit with oxygen support.

Doctors informed the family that the hole in Adam's heart measured 3.88mm and could be managed with medication. He stayed in the hospital for two months before being discharged. At the age of three, he was diagnosed with asthma, requiring hospital visits two to three times a week for inhalation therapy. He couldn't be too active as exertion caused breathing difficulties.

Over the years, Adam had regular follow-up appointments. In September last year, he was referred to a cardiac specialist at the central hospital, who scheduled surgery to close the hole in his heart. His parents managed to gather RM 13,000 to cover the surgery costs. However, during the operation, it was discovered that the hole was larger than expected, and another hidden hole was found, measuring 4.8mm and 4.9mm respectively. The surgery couldn't proceed as the equipment to repair the heart defects wasn't suitable.

With the delay in treatment, doctors were concerned that the holes in Adam's heart might lead to valve leakage, necessitating surgery at a specialized hospital as soon as possible to prevent further deterioration. If left untreated, the situation could worsen, leading to higher risks and costs for surgery.

Adam is currently in the third grade of primary school. Whenever there's a sudden change in weather, such as rain or at night, he experiences breathing difficulties. He also feels envious when he hears other children playing outside, knowing he can't join them.

His father, Mohd Khairul Azmir bin Nayan (35 years old), works as a motorcycle repair technician, earning RM 1,800, while his mother, Sahidatul Syakirah bt Mohd Padlee (34 years old), is a nurse, earning RM 3,263. They have four children, including Adam (9 years old), a 7-year-old son, a 3-year-old son, and a 6-month-old daughter.

Following a home visit and assessment, One Hope Charity decided to raise the necessary funds for their medical expenses.
