【Medical Assistance-Medication Fee】A 35-year-old young man with lung cancer that had spread to his brain had to switch to a different targeted therapy medication due to side effects from the previous medication. One Hope Charity provided assistance of RM12,160 to help cover the remaining medication cost, ensuring that his treatment is not compromised.

Gary Tong Hoe Chee, 35 years old, has been diagnosed with lung cancer, and it was recently confirmed that he has new tumors in his brain. In order to control his condition, doctors prescribed a new targeted therapy medication, which costs RM35,040 per year. With the assistance of the One Hope Charity, the required funds for the medication were successfully raised.

However, while taking the new targeted therapy medication, Gary experienced a decrease in heart rate with no other symptoms. After a medical examination, it was discovered that he showed signs of heart failure, which could potentially have more fatal consequences than cancer itself. There was no solution available to address the heart issue while continuing with the new medication, so he was advised to temporarily stop taking the targeted therapy medication and return to his previous medication.

After about two weeks of taking the old targeted therapy medication, Gary's heart failure condition showed some improvement. The doctors recommended that he continue with the old medication and also undergo radiation therapy to address the cancer cells that had spread to his brain. However, the cost of the medication he now needs is RM47,200, which will sustain him for eight months. This amount is RM12,160 more than the originally raised RM35,040.

Considering Gary Tong Hoe Chee's current financial situation and the likelihood of needing further treatment for brain radiation, which could affect his work and income, One Hope Charity has decided to extend its assistance once again. Through the "Emergency Medical Reserve Fund," they will provide the remaining RM12,160 required to cover the medication cost, allowing him to continue his treatment.
