【Medical Assistance – Hearing Aids】A 31-year-old woman has suffered from hearing impairment since childhood. Now, the hearing aids she used for multiple years can no longer be repaired. ONE HOPE CHARITY provides assistance with a pair of hearing aids, improving her quality of life.
Tan Xuan Ni from Sungai Bakap, Penang has suffered from hearing impairment since childhood. Currently, the hearing aids she has been using for 11 years often produce noise and can no longer be repaired, affecting her daily life. She was unable to afford the high cost of new hearing aids and sought assistance from One Hope Charity. One Hope Charity provided a pair of hearing aids to help her overcome the disturbance caused by noise.
Though she has suffered from hearing impairment since childhood, she only starting to wear hearing aids at the age of 12. Till 2013, she was fitted with a new pair of hearing aids due to damage to her previous ones. Over time, these hearing aids had been faithful companions to her for 11 years. During this period, hearing aids may need repairs, and each repair cost around RM450, which she paid out of her own pocket.
After completing her secondary education, she worked at a hair salon. Later, she, a young woman, came alone to an unfamiliar place in 2022 to make a living, with the introduction from relatives. She worked at an apparel manufacturing factory. Despite not knowing how to sew, she learned on the job at the factory, improving her-worth and creating value for society.
Upon receiving the request for assistance, One Hope Charity sent representatives to conduct a home visit. The board of directors decided to assist her with a pair of hearing aids, enabling her to overcome the annoyance of noise and to focus more effectively on work, thus enhancing her quality of life.
