【Medical Assistance-Surgery】An 8-month-old baby girl with a heart defect urgently needs surgery to close the hole in her heart. ONE HOPE CHARITY has provided assistance of RM20,000 to support the emergency "closure" surgery.

The baby girl was born diagnosed with complete atrioventricular septal defect (AVSD), requiring both catheterization and corrective heart surgery. Unfortunately, her parents were unable to gather the surgery funds in time. ONE HOPE CHARITY allocated RM20,000 from the "Emergency Medical Reserve Fund" to assist the baby girl in undergoing this urgent and crucial heart surgery.

Nur Adni Arfa binti Mohamad Amirul Asraf, the 8-month-old baby girl, exhibited bluish skin shortly after birth, which terrified her mother, Fazniwati binti Mohammed Anwar (40 years old). Fortunately, doctor saved her life through emergency measures. Subsequently, the baby girl stayed in the intensive care unit for nearly a month.

About a week after being allowed to go home, she was readmitted for her first surgery, a minor pulmonary artery banding procedure. During her stay, she contracted a lung bacterial infection, leading to an additional three-month hospitalization. Although assistance was obtained for this surgery, the family still had to cover the remaining thousands in surgical costs.

Considering that the baby girl's body turns blue when she cries due to her heart condition, doctors scheduled her for a second surgery on August 18th, with costs amounting to RM60,000. The mother thought the surgery expenses had been covered, only to find out that RM20,000 was still lacking just one day before the surgery. Unfortunately, she and her husband had limited financial means, and their friends and family couldn't provide assistance. With no other options, they urgently approached ONE HOPE CHARITY, hoping that their daughter's surgery could proceed as scheduled the next morning.

The father, Mohamad Amirul Asraf (31 years old), is a factory operator, while the mother works as a public assistant in the North Kelantan District Council. Their combined monthly income is approximately RM3,700. They need to care for their 4-year-old daughter, pay rent, car loan, transportation costs, utilities, miscellaneous expenses, as well as cover expenses for baby formula and diapers for their younger daughter. While they manage to make ends meet, they lack sufficient savings for emergencies.

Considering the urgency of Nur Adni Arfa's heart surgery, ONE HOPE CHARITY allocated RM20,000 from the "Emergency Medical Reserve Fund" to support her surgery. As the assistance amount does not exceed RM20,000, ONE HOPE CHARITY did not initiate a fundraising campaign. Instead, they wisely utilized the emergency medical reserve funds contributed by the public to cover the surgery costs.
