【Medical Assistance - Emergency Medical Expenses】The elderly father suffered a sudden cerebral hemorrhage while on a trip, and One Hope Charity provided RM 50,000 in assistance to ensure that he could undergo emergency surgery and save his life.

The brother and sister traveled with their father to Shanghai for a filial piety tour, but unexpectedly, upon arrival, the 78-year-old father suffered a cerebral hemorrhage. The family exhausted their savings to save his life. One Hope Charity allocated RM 50,000 from the Emergency Medical Reserved Fund to help the elderly man survive, and once his condition stabilizes, he will be sent back home.

Chuah Yu Kok, 78, a widower for many years, fortunately has two children who are very filial to him.

The elderly man arrived in Shanghai with his children on March 11th, planning to tour Shanghai independently for five days. However, on the evening of the same day, he suddenly felt unwell and collapsed at a scenic spot, and was diagnosed with a cerebral hemorrhage, requiring immediate surgery. After the surgery was completed on the same day, the elderly man spent 19 days in the intensive care unit. By then, the hospital expenses had soared to approximately RMB 130,000.

The elderly man's travel insurance coverage was only RM 25,000, and his children had to use up all their savings to cover the high medical expenses. Currently, the elderly man has emerged from the critical period but is still not fully conscious and needs to be sent to a rehabilitation hospital for further observation and treatment. As a non-China citizen, he cannot benefit from China's medical insurance system.

After the incident, his daughter returned to the country to raise funds for her father's medical expenses, while his son stayed in Shanghai to negotiate his father's follow-up treatment. Faced with high medical expenses, the siblings had no choice but to seek assistance from One Hope Charity.

Upon receiving the request for assistance, One Hope Charity immediately activated an action team to review, coordinate, and verify the situation, and promptly allocated RM 50,000 from the Emergency Medical Reserved Fund to address the family's urgent needs.
