【Medical Aid - Muscle Pain Relief Medication】Former ASEAN Para Games athlete with congenital leg spasms relies on medication to alleviate muscle pain. One Hope Charity provides ongoing assistance for one and a half years of medication to help alleviate her financial burden."

Koh Lee Peng, a 50-year-old woman, was born with congenital muscle spasms in her legs. She once represented the country in the ASEAN Para Games and won a gold medal in swimming. After retiring from sports, she made a living by selling handicrafts. In early 2022, she came to Kuala Lumpur with her companions to make a living. Every day, she braved the sun and rain to sell handicrafts, tissues, milk, and other items in front of Pavilion to earn a meager income and be self-reliant.

Lee Peng has always relied on medication to alleviate the muscle pain in her legs. Last year, she switched to a new medication, which is not subsidized by the government and needs to be purchased independently.

Upon receiving her request for assistance, One Hope Charity conducted a home visit and approved assistance for one year's worth of medication. Subsequently, we extended the assistance for an additional six months to the end of this year.

One Hope Charity allocated RM7,380 from the "Emergency Medical Reserve Fund" to support Lee Peng's medication expenses, helping alleviate her financial burden.

ONE HOPE CHARITY determined the medical fee needed for assistance. We did not start fundraising because the medical fee was less than RM20,000. Instead, it made good use of the usual well-meaning donations to assist Koh Lee Peng.
