【Medical Assistance-Stent】A 57-year-old woman is suffering from kidney disease and requires surgery to implant a stent in her right kidney to facilitate fluid drainage. Unable to afford the cost of surgical equipment, she received assistance from One Hope Charity amounting to RM8,000 to purchase the necessary surgical materials.

A 57-year-old Chinese woman from Bukit Mertajam is suffering from recurrent narrowing of the right renal pelvis ureteral junction, leading to recurrent swelling and accumulation of fluid in both kidneys. She requires surgery to place a stent. One Hope Charity allocate RM8,000 from the "Emergency Medical Reserve Fund" to assist with the cost of surgical equipment.

Au Pei Fong began seeking medical attention in 2012 due to abdominal pain. By last year, she had undergone four surgeries to place stents in her kidneys. However, each stent placed during surgery had to be removed and replaced three months later to prevent kidney inflammation or swelling.

Given her repeated surgeries for stent placement and removal, her doctor recommended the implantation of a permanent stent. Unlike the previous ones, this type of stent does not require removal through surgery. However, the cost of this stent is RM 8,000.

Au Pei Fong is currently a housewife. Her 58-year-old husband works as a hammer car shop worker, earning a monthly salary of RM1,800. The couple has three daughters, the eldest suffers from depression and is unable to work, while the other two are studying at a local university and secondary school.

Upon receiving the request for assistance, representatives from ONE HOPE CHARITY visited her home for an assessment. The board of directors decided to provide RM8,000 to cover the cost of surgical equipment, enabling her to overcome the problem of recurrent kidney swelling and fluid accumulation.
