"That's great! During the New Year, Man Him used to get startled by the sound of firecrackers. We were so happy to see him reacting to the sound, it proves that he can hear!"

Man Him, from Seri Kembangan, Selangor, underwent surgery in October after the surgery costs were raised. He was scheduled for surgery at the end of October. After nearly 4 hours of surgery, he successfully received a cochlear implant and was discharged on October 31st. Min Qian was even able to tune in on his birthday, November 10th.

Man Him was switched on during his 4th birthday celebration. He was so happy when his family sang him a birthday song, and his family was also very relieved.

As Man Him's mother, Low Sik Yee, shares her joy, she also hopes for further improvements in her child's hearing. She also hopes that once their family's financial situation stabilizes, they can give back to those in need in society.

Man Him was a baby born with intrauterine growth restriction, which affected his hearing. Despite wearing hearing aids, he couldn't hear. After various tests and evaluations, doctors determined that he was a suitable candidate for cochlear implants and had a chance to hear. After undergoing speech therapy, he will be able to speak. One Hooe Charity assisted them in raising the remaining RM 115,000 needed for the surgery. They hope that he will complete the surgery and treatment soon, enter the world of sound as soon as possible, and catch up with other children his age in their learning journey.
