Chua Zi Jie has been suffering from severe sensorineural hearing loss in both ears since childhood. His left ear received a cochlear implant at the age of 3, and now at 8 years old, thanks to the support of public, he has successfully received a cochlear implant in his right ear on August 8th.

Chua Zi Jie was admitted to the hospital on August 7th, accompanied by his mother, Tey Ai Pei. After nearly 6 hours of surgery the following day, the cochlear implant was successfully placed. Everything went smoothly, and he was discharged on August 10th.

After the surgical wound healed and the stitches were removed, Zi Jie's cochlear implant was officially activated on August 30th. He continued with speech therapy, learning pronunciation, and sound recognition. For the sake of her son's education and future, Tey Ai Pei tirelessly commutes from Johor to Kuala Lumpur on a regular basis to accompany her child during the necessary language therapy sessions.

One Hope Charity also hopes that now, with cochlear implants in both ears, Zi Jie can further improve his speech and enhance his learning, in the future, he can repay the immense love of his mother and society.
